Ticketing Hall and Baggage Claim

Long Beach Airport (LGB)

Long Beach, California

The Long Beach Airport (LGB) Ticketing Hall and Baggage Claim Facilities project is part of the airport’s multi-phase Terminal Area Improvement Program, enhancing pre-security passenger processing and overall airport functionality. The program includes a new 16,700 SF ticketing lobby with common-use counters and self-service kiosks, as well as a modern Checked Baggage Inspection System (CBIS) facility that improves TSA screening efficiency and replaces outdated infrastructure. These upgrades increase processing capacity, improve passenger circulation, and allow for the preservation and future reuse of the airport’s historic terminal. The new facilities are designed with sustainability and passenger comfort in mind, incorporating energy-efficient systems and flexible layouts to support evolving airline operations.

In a subsequent phase, the project introduced a new 11,500 SF centralized baggage claim facility, consolidating three existing claim areas into a single open-air pavilion adjacent to the concourse. This modernized facility improves baggage processing efficiency, enhances passenger flow, and reinforces LGB’s signature indoor-outdoor passenger experience.

Plane Inglish supported phased ORAT planning and activation across both projects, coordinating stakeholders, managing construction impacts within an active terminal, and preparing operations teams for transition. Through structured planning, training, and operational activation, the ORAT effort enabled a seamless integration of new facilities while maintaining uninterrupted airport operations.
